Joseph Addai: Still No Official Status

Joseph Addai: Still No Official Status  -  10/7/2007 9:47:51 AM

Update:
Addai's status (bruised chest) is still murky heading into Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Many expect Addai to start, according to FoxSports' John Czarnecki , but there's been no official word and other analysts say he may not play.

Recommendation:
Our gut feel here is that Addai will play, but get fewer carries than usual. He was on the sidelines all week during practice, although he didn't participate. Still, it's a tough call with the Colts playing a 4:05 pm ET game.

beRecruited SportsWrap » Latest Fantasy Football News - Joseph Addai or Kenton Keith?

The Colts have injury problems and fantasy football owners of Joseph Addai (like me) got awful news today:

Addai is officially questionable… in the afternoon game!

I immediately rushed to pick up back-up Kenton Keith - but he was taken…. My advice: pick up Kenton Keith off of waivers as it doesn't look good for Addai:

From ESPN
: Joseph Addai, Colts: Addai is officially listed as questionable for Week 5, and all indications are that he will be a game-time decision. Addai did not practice all week, but coach Tony Dungy has indicated that the Colts, who have a late afternoon start, will determine several players' status based on how they run Sunday morning. Addai is figured to be among that group. Addai is recovering from a chest injury, originally described as a bruised shoulder, and Dungy says this injury is very similar to what Addai suffered during the 2006 playoffs. Dungy told the Indianapolis Tribune-Star that Addai feels better this time than he did in 2006, but this is not a playoff situation. In other words, unless Addai can really prove he is ready to go, the Colts will not risk playing him. Even if Addai suits up, given Kenton Keith 's able performance last week, Keith is likely to maintain the majority of the carries. The Colts can afford to be cautious with Addai as they also head into a bye for Week 6.

Who's hot: Joseph Addai | IndyStar.com

Position: Running back.

College: LSU.
Experience: 2nd year with Colts; 30th overall pick in 2006 draft.
NFL resume: Last season he became the first running back in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards while coming off the bench in all 16 games. He was also league's leading rookie rusher with 1,081 yards and the fourth rookie in Colts history to eclipse the 1,000-yard barrier. . . . Started all four games in the postseason and rushed for 294 yards and two TDs, including the game-winner vs. New England in the AFC title game. . . . Third in NFL this season with 407 yards on 84 carries. Has five rushing TDs, tops among running backs, with at least one in each game.
Recent impact: Rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries against Denver. That marked his second 100-yard game of the season and fourth of his career, excluding the playoffs. The Colts are 3-1 in those games, and 7-0 when he has had at least 19 carries.
Peyton Manning on Addai: "Very pleased with (the Denver game), obviously. He's still a young player. You've got to be careful a little bit there that he's not a five-, six-year veteran. But that certainly shows what he's capable of. I think we need to do a good job of protecting him and keeping him as healthy as we can. He certainly ran the ball well.''
