The Nobel Peace Prize

Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, shared the first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901 with Frédéric Passy, a leading international pacifist of the time. In addition to humanitarian efforts and peace movements, the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded for work in a wide range of fields including advocacy of human rights, mediation of international conflicts, and arms control.

2006 Nobel Peace Prize Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank were awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to create economic and social development from below. Read more about the 2006 Nobel Laureates here.

2005 Nobel Laureates The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its Director General, Mohamed ElBaradei, shared the Nobel Peace Prize for their work for nuclear disarmament.
