Yang Huiyan is the daugher of a rice farmer turned real estate tycoon. She's 26 years old and she's got $16 billion. In case you were wondering, she's married! That's the photo of her and her groom at a wedding ceremony. Sorry dudes! You missed the wedding in April!

Yang's father, Yang Guoqiang, started his company Biguiyuan in 1997 and the rise was meteoric. The Biguiyuan Group was listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on April 2007. Lee Shau Kee and Cheng Yu-Tung, two of Yang's townmates (Their native places are in Shunde), bought 1 billion of Biguiyuan IPO stocks respectively. He transferred his stock to his daughter.

China's MOFCOM talked about the IPO back in April. The company is called Country Garden Holdings ( 2007.HK). It's huge:



Forbes: Daughter of real estate tycoon becomes China's top rich

  BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The 26-year-old Yang Huiyan, daughter of a property developer, has topped this year's Forbes list of the richest people in China with a net worth of 16 billion U.S. dollars.

    Yang also becomes the richest woman in Asia, the magazine said in a statement on Monday.

    Yang is one of the three daughters of Yang Guoqiang, a co-founder of the Country Garden Holdings Company Limited, and she acquired her father's shareholding of the Guangdong-based property development firm in 2005.

    The debut of the company at the Hong Kong stock market this year has made billionaires of Yang and four others, said the magazine.

    Another developer Hui Wing Mau took the second place of China's top rich with a net worth of 7.3 billion U.S. dollars and Guo Guangchang, chairman of a manufacturing, retailing and real estate company ranked the third.
